Geodes are spherical rocks that contain hollow cavities lined with crystals. The name geode comes from the Greek word Geoides, which means "earthlike". Geodes are unique because each geode has its own composition that is different from every other geode. The only way to discover the hidden beauty inside of a geode is to crack it open with a hammer or cut it in half with a rock saw.

I really love geodes and want other people to enjoy the mystery and fun of cracking them open. I made it the tradition this year of having anyone who visited my farm, to take a moment to crack one. I found the majority of people had never had this life experience, and I was thrilled that I could help provide it and watch the magic as they observed the crystals inside. I have ordered this bucket multiple times and only had 2 that were solid inside...even the tiny ones have crystals. I also appreciate they are very affordable. We found it was helpful to put the geode into a Ziploc snack bag before they hit it, then all the parts were contained and didn't fly everywhere. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!!!

Cuties for the WIN!!

My 11 year old niece had a blast cracking them open as I joined her on FaceTime. Other than destroying a brand new washcloth she used to cover the geodes with, it was a total success! If she works hard to keep her grades up, there may be another bucket of geodes in her future.
